💡 Optional Activity: If you are interested in polar animals, you can visit Harbin Polar Park to watch wonderful performances featuring penguins, sea lions, and polar bears.
In the evening, we will head to the world’s largest ice theme park — Harbin Ice and Snow World. This magnificent kingdom is famous for its grand ice architecture. You can experience the super-long ice slide, the snowflake Ferris wheel, or join the mass “snow disco” to fully feel the charm of the Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival.
- Keep Warm: Long down jackets, thermal wear, waterproof/anti-slip boots, gloves, and scarves are essential.
- Eye Protection: Snow reflection is strong; sunglasses are recommended. For those with myopia, contact lenses are better as glasses may fog up.

Next, head to the Bund Snowman Wharf to watch a thrilling winter swimming performance. Marvel at the courage and skill of local swimmers as they dive into the freezing waters. Afterward, visit the iconic St. Sophia Cathedral. This Byzantine-style Orthodox church, famous for its green onion-domed roof, now houses an architectural art museum showcasing the city’s multicultural history.
Later, stroll along Central Street, known as “Asia’s First Street,” to admire Baroque and Renaissance architecture and enjoy a famous Madieer ice popsicle. At the end of the street lies Stalin Park, where you can see exquisite sculptures and Russian-style buildings along the Songhua River. Finally, explore Lao Daowai, home to China’s largest “Chinese Baroque” building complex, and discover authentic old Harbin eateries.

Day 4: Harbin to China Snow Town – Mt. Datudingzi Snowmobiling & Enchanting Night View
Continue to explore the Ten-Mile Ice and Snow Gallery. Trek through the primitive forest to admire natural rime, snow-covered trees, and the unique “snow mushroom” formations. You may also spot wildlife like black bears and roe deer at the high-mountain zoo. Upon arrival at Snow Town, a fairy-tale world awaits you.
As night falls, the town glows with colorful lights, transforming houses into “cream cakes” and “snow mushrooms.” Head to the viewing platform for a breathtaking night view. Tonight, stay in a traditional local guesthouse to experience authentic Northern Chinese life.
1. Accommodation in Snow Town is simpler than in the city; some guesthouses may not provide disposable toiletries, so we recommend bringing your own.
2. You will stay in a traditional “Kang” room (a heated brick bed), providing a unique and cozy sleeping experience during the cold winter.

Day 5: China Snow Town – Yangcao Mountain Sunrise, “Splash to Ice” & Yabuli Forest
Next, climb the Bangchui Mountain Viewing Platform for a bird’s-eye view of the village. The round roofs covered in thick snow look like “Snow Mushrooms” or “Cream Cakes,” creating a quiet winter masterpiece. In the afternoon, we drive to Yabuli, known as China’s “Gate to Snow.” Upon arrival, experience the traditional Northeast Chinese transport—a Horse-drawn Sleigh through the forest. Deep in the birch woods, you can build snowmen, have snow battles, or enjoy fun activities like snow tubing and bumper balls.
End the day by soaking in the pure, quiet winter night of Yabuli.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many days should I spend in Harbin? How do I choose between 3-day, 5-day, 6-day, and 7-day itineraries?
A 3 to 4-day trip is ideal for Harbin city highlights, while 5 to 6 days allows a deeper Snow Town experience. A 7-day itinerary is the most complete winter adventure.
All of these routes include highlights such as Hongzhuan Street Morning Market and the winter swimming show. The 5 to 6-day itineraries take you deeper into China Snow Town to stay on a heated kang bed and watch the sunrise at Yangcao Mountain. The recommended 7-day tour adds Yabuli skiing, allowing you to enjoy Harbin, Snow Town, and Yabuli in one complete winter trip.
How cold is Harbin in winter, and what should I wear?
Winter temperatures in Harbin can fall to -20°C to -30°C. We recommend dressing in layers: thermal underwear closest to the skin, a thick sweater or fleece in the middle, and a windproof waterproof long down coat on the outside. Warm hats, earmuffs, thick scarves, waterproof gloves, and foot warmers are also essential. Our private vehicles are fully heated so you can warm up quickly between attractions.
Why choose a private tour in Harbin instead of traveling independently?
Winter travel in Harbin comes with two main challenges: transportation and language. When Ice and Snow World closes, it can be extremely difficult to find a taxi or rideshare, and even waiting outside for one minute can feel unbearable in the freezing cold. A private tour gives you a dedicated driver, seamless transfers, and a professional guide to help with tickets and communication.
Is Yabuli Ski Resort suitable for beginners? Do I need to bring my own ski equipment?
Yes, Yabuli Ski Resort is very beginner-friendly. The resort offers complete rental services, including skis, boots, and protective gear, so you do not need to bring your own. Our private tour can also help arrange rentals in advance to save time and make the experience smoother.
Is the horse-drawn sleigh experience safe? Can children join?
Yes. The horse-drawn sleigh is a traditional and safe winter activity in Northeast China. The horses are professionally trained and the drivers are experienced. Children can join, and it is one of the most popular family-friendly experiences. Wrapped in thick fur coats, you will ride through snowy forests and enjoy an authentic Northeast China winter scene.
