This 7-day tour will take you to visit the highlights of Xian, and explore the historic sites along the ancient Silk Road, including the Sangke Grassland, the scared Labrang Monastery and the artistic stone sculptures of the Bingling Thousand Buddha Caves.

  • Upon your arrival in Xian, you will find that our professional guide is waiting for you outside the baggage claim area at Xian Airport, holding a welcome sign on which your name is written. Then you will be transferred to the selected hotel. After checking in the hotel, we will take you to visit Ancient City Wall. Constructed in the 14th century Ming Dynasty, the city wall is one of the oldest and most complete city defenses in China. Standing on it, it will be immediately apparent to you that the views of the ancient city’s landscapes.

  • In the morning, our driver and guide will pick you up at your hotel. To begin with, we will take you to visit Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum, an amazing military museum underground. Dating from 3rd century BC, the Terracotta Army is a collection of terracotta sculptures depicting the armies of Qin Shi Huang. At noon, to avoid the cheap tourist eateries arranged by most agencies, we will serve you with an a la carte lunch at the best local restaurant. After lunch, we will depart for Great Mosque, one of the oldest, largest and best-preserved Islamic mosques in China. In the mosque, you will find the traditional Chinese architectures decorated with Islam arts. Then our tour will be extended to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, one of the ancient symbols of Xian City. Dated back to 1300 years ago, it is a holy place for housing the Buddhist materials taken from India by the hierarch Xuanzang.

    This evening, you will enjoy the creative Dumpling Dinner and marvelous Tang Dynasty Music and Dance Show at Shaanxi Opera Theatre.

  • This morning excursion will start with Shaanxi History Museum, located to the northwest of Big Wild Goose Pagoda. In this traditional Chinese style building, there is a large-scale collection of over 370,000 historical items. From that, you will learn more about the long history and advanced civilization of ancient China. Then you will have a local family visit and enjoy an a la carte homely cooked lunch there. Moreover, if you are interested in cooking Chinese food, you can choose one or two dishes you preferred from Chinese food cooking class and our hostess will be glad to teach you. After that, you will take a flight to Lanzhou. Our Lanzhou guide will be waiting for you at Lanzhou Airport and transfer you to the selected hotel.

  • Today we will go to Xiahe to explore Sangke Prairie, which lies about ten kilometers west of Xiahe County, Gansu province. Sangke prairie is at an elevation of 3000 meters (9843 feet) with an area of 70 square kilometers (27 square miles). It is famous for its excellent pasture and frequent magnificent Buddhist ceremonies. Then we will take you to taste the mysterious and simple Tibetan flavor and learn the local folk custom by visiting a Tibetan family.

  • Today, we will return to Lanzhou by car. On the way, we will pay a visit to the Labrang Monastery, a propitious place in the hearts of the Tibetan. It is a vital shrine of Geluk (Yellow Hat) School of Tibetan Buddhism with 300 years history and the most important Tibetan Buddhist center out of Tibet. The Buddhists gather here to do Buddhism activities and ceremonies. You will have the chance to watch the morning pray in the monastery. Upon arrival in Lanzhou, check in the hotel again for a two-night stay.

  • Today, we will take you to visit Bingling Thousand Buddha Caves. Bingling means 'ten thousand Buddhas' in the Tibetan language. Dated back to the Western Jin Dynasty (265-316), Bingling Thousand Buddha Caves is one of the three most famous Buddha caves in Gansu Province. It enjoys a great artistic value for preserving 196 caves, 694 stone statues, 82 clay sculptures and a large area of murals. The caves stretch about 200 meters (about 600 feet) on the west cliff in Dasi Gully. We will take a boat to visit them.

  • You will have a short visit to the Waterwheel Garden. In the garden, there are two waterwheels, a cofferdam, the recreation area and a house of water mill. Invented in the Ming Dynasty, the waterwheel is widely-use to irrigating in Lanzhou area along the Yellow River. After visiting it, you will learn something about he waterwheel culture and farming civilization of ancient China. Here, your tour will come to the end. Our guide will transfer you to Lanzhou Airport for your departure flight. Wish you a pleasant trip!
