14 Days China Silk Road tour to Beijing, Urumqi, Kashgar, Urumqi, Turpan, Dunhuang, Xian and Shanghai. A la cart meals and splendid sceneries are worthy of your time and money

  • Upon your arrival at Beijing Capital Airport, you will find our guide is waiting for you outside the customs of the airport, holding a welcome sign with your name on it. Then you will be transferred to the reserved hotel. The remainder of the day is on your own to take a rest or explore the city.

  • In the morning, our guide and driver will pick you up at the hotel. To begin with the capital city’s tour, we will drive you to visit the Tiananmen Square, which is reputed as the world’s biggest city square. You will have some time to stroll around the square and take some pictures. Then we will walk across the Golden Water Bridge and enter into the Forbidden City. It was first built throughout 14 years during the reign of Emperor Chengzu in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). The marvelous imperial palaces and large scale of historical relics will show you the golden history and culture of ancient China. As is our practice to avoid the poor food at the cheap tourist eateries, we will serve you an a la carte lunch at a nice local restaurant, where you can taste the authentic Chinese food. In the afternoon, we will continue the trip to the Temple of Heaven. Dated back to the Qing Dynasty, it once was a royal temple for the emperors to do sacrifice for good harvest. Tonight, a fantastic Chinese Kung Fu Show at Red Theatre will offer you a vision feast. You will know more about Chinese Kung Fu from the excellent show.

  • Early in the morning, we will transfer you to visit Badaling Great Wall, which is the only man-made structure that could be seen in space. Winding for several kilometers along the mountain ranges, the wall is just like a huge dragon. You will be impressed by the wisdom and power of ancient Chinese people. The gorgeous landscape around the wall will also feast your eyes. After that, proceed to visit a Jade Store. To avoid having lunch at shopping site restaurants, you will have Sichuan food at a popular local restaurant. In the afternoon, we will head to visit the Ming Tomb after passing through the Sacred Way. Located at the foot of Tianshou Mountain, the Ming Tombs is the mausoleums of thirteen emperors of the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644). On the way back to downtown area, we will drive by the Bird's Nest (Olympic National Stadium), where you can have a short stay to take some photos with the huge nest.

  • In the morning, we will take you to pay a visit to the Summer Palace, the largest and most well-preserved royal park in China. Reputed as ‘The Museum of Royal Gardens', the Summer Palace perfectly blends natural scenery and magnificent architecture. Then visit a Pearl Factory. Around noon, you will be served an a la carte lunch at a famous local restaurant to taste authentic Chinese cuisine. Afterwards, you will be transferred to the airport for the flight to Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Upon your arrival, our guide will greet you outside the Arrival Hall of the airport. And a comfortable private transfer will take you to the reserved hotel in the downtown.

  • In the morning, you will board a flight to Kashgar - the pearl on the ancient Silk Road, described as “fruitful soil, cotton aplenty, and inhabitants who live by trade” by Marco Polo. Upon your arrival, our local guide will meet you at the airport and transfer you the selected hotel in Kashgar. After a short rest, we will drive you to visit the famous Sunday Market, namely Sunday Bazaar, a famous local market which is considered the largest international trade market in northwest China. The bazaar opens everyday in Kashgar, but the one on Sunday is the liveliest, as the whole community gets together. At the fair, you can enjoy and buy various things such as general merchandise, handicrafts, livestock, and local specialties.

  • Today's visit starts from the Id Kah Mosque, built about 500 years ago. It is the biggest mosque in China, where you will see a group of typical Islamic architecture like domes, minarets and arches, as well as pious prayers. Walking out of the mosque, we will come to the Old Street of Kashgar. The criss-crossed narrow alleys and traditional houses will take you back to the ancient Kashqar. Afterwards, we will take you to visit the Abakh Khoja Tomb, which is an ancient Islamic building complex and a cemetery where five generations of a famous Islamic master were buried. In the east of the cemetery, you will see the largest dome architecture of Xinjiang. Then you will be transferred to the airport to board a return flight to Urumqi. Upon your arrival, our guide will meet you at the Airport. A comfortable private transfer will take you to Turpan and then check in at the selected hotel.

  • This morning excursion will begin with the visit to Jiaohe Ruins. Constructed about 2300 years ago, the ancient city of Jiaohe is the largest, oldest and best-preserved earth construction in the world. In the ancient city, you will see numerous earthen buildings featuring Tang Dynasty (618-907) architectural style. After that, we will proceed to visit the famous Karez Well. Turban is the hottest place in China and the arid climate makes water all the more precious. In order to solve water problem, ancient Xinjiang people created the gigantic underground irrigation system. During the past 400 years, the local people relied on these over 1,100 Karez Wells for water. Then we will travel to Emin Minaret (Sugong Pagoda). With a history of more than 200 years, the pagoda is the existing largest ancient pagoda in Xinjiang.

  • Today, we will lead you to visit another famous ruin in Turpan, Gaochang Ruins, which was a key point along the Silk Road. Used to be the capital of ancient Gaochang Kingdom, the city still shows its golden history with many former buildings, like temples, markets and palace. Afterwards, we will go on to visit the Bizaklik Thousand Buddha Cave. There ware originally 83 caves and 57 caves currently remain. In the caves, thousands of Buddhism murals show many Buddhism figures, stories, and the social life. The vivid murals take us back to the Ancient Gaochang Kingdom dated back to about 1,000 years. The last stop will be the hottest place in China, the Flaming Hill, which is located at the north of ancient Silk Road. As its name implies, the hill is extremely hot in summer and the highest temperature could reach 47.8 ℃ (118 ℉). With the red sun overhead, the red mountain looks like a fiery dragon. Afterwards, you will board an overnight soft sleeper train to Dunhuang.

  • Breakfast is on your own. Upon your arrival, our guide will greet you at Liuyuan railway station. Then you will be transferred to the appointed hotel in Dunhuang. After about two hours’ drive, we will arrive at Dunhuang. The guide will help you to check in at the hotel. Afterwards, pay a visit to Mogao Caves, or Mogao Grottoes, also known as the Caves of the Thousand Buddhas. It was an oasis strategically located at a religious and cultural crossroads on the Silk Road. You will be impressed by the large number of vivid Buddhism murals, statues and architecture and learn more about Buddhism culture. Then proceed to visit Dunhuang Museum, where you will get a better understanding of the Silk Road from the exhibited historical relics.

  • Today you will visit one of the most famous attractions along the Silk Road, the Echoing-Sand Mountain, also known as Mingsha Mountain. It is famous for the sound of the moving sand. When you slide down the slope, you can hear the roaring echo of sands. You will experience a short camel ride along the mountain to reach the Crescent Lake. You will be astonished by the natural wonder that the crescent-shaped spring can exist in the Gobi desert for more than 100 years. After that, you will be taken to the airport for the flight to Xian. Upon your arrival, our guide will meet you and escort you to the hotel in downtown.

  • To begin with, we will take a tour to the Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum, a must-see of ancient Xi’an. Famed as the Eighth Wonder of the world, the museum will fascinate you with its large scale, mighty scenes, exquisite warriors and horses. After visiting a Pottery-making Workshop, we will serve you a la carte lunch at a delicate local restaurant. In the afternoon, pay a visit to one of the most popular attractions of Xian, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. It was erected 1,300 years ago to collect the Buddhist statues, relics and scriptures from India. Then proceed to visit the City Wall. It was originally built in Ming Dynasty and is the existing largest and the most completed city wall all over the world. In the evening, the Dumpling Dinner and Tang Dynasty Dance and Music Show at Shaanxi Opera Theater will be scheduled to you. You will taste various Chinese dumplings and appreciate marvelous performance.

  • After breakfast, we will drive you to visit the Shaanxi Provincial History Museum. It is famed as the most comprehensive museum for its large scale and well-preserved historical relics. It houses bronze vessels, mural paintings, potteries, porcelains, bronze mirrors, jade articles and currencies of different dynasties. After that, a family visit will be specially arranged for you. The home-cooked lunch will be well-prepared by the kindly host. If you are interested, you can learn to cook your favorite Chinese dish following the host. From this experience, you will get to know more about local people’s life. After lunch, you will take a flight to Shanghai. Our guide will meet you and escort you to the hotel in downtown.

  • The first stop of Shanghai tour will be Shanghai Museum, which is regarded as a comprehensive ancient museum for housing more than 120,000 historic relics. Then take a tour to the Yuyuan Garden, one of the most notable classical gardens in southern region of our country. Strolling in the garden, you will see the Chinese traditional architecture, including pavilions, halls, rockeries, ponds and cloisters. Then explore a Silk Factory. Around noon, you will be served an a la carte lunch at a famous local restaurant to taste authentic Shanghai and Cantonese cuisines. In the afternoon, a short cruise tour along the Huangpu River will be scheduled to you. You will appreciate different scenes along both sides of the river: the old western buildings on the west bank and the huge mansions on the east bank. Then you will have some free time to explore the Bund are and an old street.
