Kunming, known as ‘Spring City’, will captivate you with its pleasant clime, stunning natural scenery and rich historical heritages. The 3-day tour will take you to the visit the highlights of the city: the Stone Forest, crowned as 'the essence of karst landforms’; Yuantong Temple, the largest Buddhist complex in Kunming.
After arrival at Kunming, you will be met outside the customs at Kunming Airport and transferred to the selected hotel. Our professional guide will assist you to check in at hotel. The rest of the day is on your own to explore the city.
In the morning, our guide and driver will pick you up at the hotel and transfer you to the Stone Forest. It is famed as the ‘world’s karst landscape museum'. You will see hundreds of differently-styled giant stones scattered in random fashion and giving the appearance of a deep and serene forest. According to the different shapes, the stones were given interesting names, such as Mother and Son, Camel Riding on Elephant and Beautiful Maiden Ascending from the Water. The Stone Forest area is mainly inhabited by the Sani people, whose unique culture and folk customs will also deeply impress you. After lunch, the tour will be extended to Green Lake Park, also called ‘Nine Dragon Pond’ in ancient times for there are nine spring outlets at north of the lake. As one of the most beautiful parks in the downtown area of Kunming, it is a perfect place for the local people to enjoy recreation. You may take a leisure walk or see the local people practicing Taiji and local opera. If you come here in November and December, you will be astonished by the spectacular scene of huge flocks of red-beaked gulls.

After breakfast, we will depart for the Dragon Gate on Western Hill. Located at 2300 meters above sea level, it is a group of grottoes, sculptures, corridors and pavilions which were carved out of the steep cliffs, featuring danger, tranquility and uniqueness. It is known as the largest and the most beautiful Taoist grottoes in Yunnan Province. After lunch, proceed to visit Yuantong Temple. Established over 1,200 years ago, this temple is the largest Buddhist complex in Kunming and was listed as one of the key Buddhist temples in China. It has become more popular among pilgrims since the grand ceremony of greeting and consecrating the Buddha's tooth was held in it in 1956. Afterwards, you will be transferred to the airport for next tour destination.
