Baihua Lake

Located about 22 kilometers (approx. 14 miles) in the northwest suburb in Guiyang, Baihua Lake Scenic Area is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Guiyang. Blessed with natural beauty of lakes and hills, the scenic area was given the nickname - 'Little Guilin' due to the scenery is much like that of Li River Scenery.

Visiting here, you will be astonished by the wonderful landscape. The scenic area is just like a landscape painting with clean lake and green hills. Owing to excellent environment, it is a natural habitat for many kinds of birds. In the lake, there are over 100 islands, which make the lake appear like the sky bejeweled with stars.

There are over 50 scenic spots in the Baihua Lake Scenic Area. However, among them one can only visit 23 spots. The names of some of the more notable scenic spots are: overlooking the Pin Ocean, Two Monkeys Guarding the Garden, Kwan-yin Cavity on the Maoli Hill, Hongwu Temple on the Moon Hill, and Birds Island. The most famous attraction is the Birds Island. If you visit here in spring or winter, you will be impressed with a considerable amount of birds that are wheeling above the island, forming a magnificent spectacle.

In the scenic area, there are some dozens of families living here. Living at the foot of the hills and in front of the lake, the inhabitants live a peaceful and romantic rural life. Flowers bloom and birds fly through the sky here in spring, with widgeons floating and playing in the water.

Transportation: Baihua Lake Scenic Area is near the city. You can go there and return back during a day. It can be reached by the regular buses in the Guiyang Coach Station. Alternatively, you can also take the No.55 bus in Zilin An and get off when reach the stop named Zhuchang, and then transfer to a tricycle to reach the scenic area.
