Detail Itinerary
This 3-day tour to Beijing includes visits to Mutianyu Great Wall, Forbidden City, and Summer Palace. It is a perfect tour for these who have a weekend free in Shanghai and have not been to Beijing before.

Today, get to the train station on your own in Shanghai to catch your train to Beijing. On arrival to Beijing, your guide and driver will transfer you to your hotel. Lunch in a local restaurant will be arranged. (Your train ticket will be provided at least one day in advance.)
In the afternoon, we are going to visit Summer Palace which was once the holiday home of the Chinese royals hundreds of years ago. In Summer Palace, you will also have chance to explore the Garden of Virtue and Harmony which once played as theater for emperor to enjoy performances. Then you will take a boat (may not be available in winter when lake is freeze) to enjoy the beauty of Summer Palace in a relaxing and interesting way. After Summer Palace, our guide and driver will send you back to your hotel.

After breakfast in hotel, our guide will pick up you at about 8:30am, then start visit to Mutianyu Great Wall which was firstly build in 2000 years ago. It takes one and half hour driving but it worth the ride when you walk on this spectacular wall. After 2-3 hours walking on the wall, you will take cable car down the great wall then we will continue the trip to Temple of Heaven.
Each year in the past, the Emperor would come to Temple of Heaven to pray for a successful planting. This is also a good place to look at how the local life looks like. You can easily find locals engaged in calisthenics or games of chess etc. After the trip, you will be escorted back to your hotel.

Today, you are going to visit the largest Square in China, Tiananmen Square. This is the place where the military parade took place at. After a short visit, we will continue the trip to Forbidden City.
Forbidden City was the home and office of 24 emperors. Travelling through this UNESCO world heritage site is like travelling through history as it has a history of more than 600 years.
After the visit to Hutong by rickshaw, your guide and driver will send you to train station to take your train back to Shanghai.
